Kristi Dehaan, M.S., CCC-SLP

Kristi grew up in rural southwest Missouri and came to Texas temporarily to obtain her Master of Science degree. She quickly fell in love with the friendly people of south Texas and decided to stay permanently. The warm weather helped too!

Kristi enjoys working with the physicians to restore a patient’s voice whether it’s due to overuse, misuse or pathology. Kristi feels that she is an educator at heart. She has a knack for taking complicated medical terminology and putting it into terms everyone can understand. Kristi finds it very rewarding to work with cancer patients and their families helping them understand the whole process from diagnosis through recovery. Kristi enjoys taking continuing education courses in voice and swallowing disorders to learn new compensatory strategies, exercises and treatment modalities she can share with her patients.

Lori Henkener, M.A., CCC-SLP

Lori Henkener, Speech-Language Pathologist, is a Yankee by birth and a Texan by choice! She spent most of her childhood here in San Antonio, graduating from Churchill High School. Her undergraduate degree is in Communication Disorders from the University of North Texas. She earned her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from St. Louis University in 1992. Although she has worked in California, Florida, Missouri and Pennsylvania, she got back to Texas as quickly as she could. She specializes in adults with speech, voice and/or swallowing disorders but her main area of interest is head and neck cancer. Being able to improve a person's quality of life and his or her ability to communicate with friends and family is beyond rewarding. She is also a runner who has completed numerous half marathons and enjoys working with other athletes, especially those with vocal cord dysfunction.
